I would say don't worry so much about what school you are able to get into. You can still get degrees from colleges that don't cost a fortune and still get a good job, at least at entry level where you can always advance within that career.

I became a good studier from my mom and from a few of my clever teachers. The thing that has worked for me the best is note cards, like flash cards - a question on one side and the answer on the other. Take them with you everywhere you go, and when you have a spare minute - the gym, the bus/carpool (or stoplight, if you drive), waiting in line somewhere, etc. You have to commit new knowledge to memory, and the only way to do that is REPETITION. I find that cards help with that.

The other thing that helps is more fun and silly. Mnemonics. To remember certain terms, groupings, or ways of spelling something, you come up with a catchy phrase or song or rhyming pattern. Have you ever heard of "please excuse my dear aunt sally"? That is a classic mnemonic. Or how about the one about the order of the planets?

It also helps to draw out your mnemonic wherever possible. When you make a visual connection to a bit of information, you are more likely to remember it. Mnemonics are all about making those connections.

Also check out some books at the library on study techniques and also memory techniques. Good luck!! What are the subjects you are struggling in and need to remember for tests? I might be able to help you come up with ways of remembering - email me at annemccall79[at]yahoo :)

like Jenny said ever 1 has their own study style
the thing is that u have to find what suits u best.
here are a few ways for learning for exams why dont u try them all out and see what suits u best
1)go on to places like youtube and type in the topics that u need to learn they have video presentations maybe if u visualize the info it will stick in your mind better
2)draw diagrams and fill in the info in short hand form
3)make up a poem or song about the info
4)link it to things that u already remember
5)go on the internet and search the topic u can usually find lots of sites on different topics that have real good notes that help in learning
6)again like Jenny said repetition
another good place to look for visual stuff is http://www.khanacademy.org/ they have real good stuff on youtube too.
an example is when trying to learn trig-sin is soh(sin=opp/hyp) cos is cah(cos=adj/hyp) tan is toa(tan=opp/adj)
SOH CAH TOA (it made learning the trig formulas alot more eaiser

also try sites like bbc schools that has gud stuff too
anyway goodluck with ur tests

If you just summarize don't expect to get an A or B.
More like a C- or D+

When they stress how difficult something was they explain in a way that would make the person they are explaining it to feel the same way they are feeling.

This sentence is not quite right:

hey had to operate upon the difficult coast, often in adverse weather, under an almost ceaseless hail of bombs and an increasing concentration of artillery fire. Nor were the seas, as I have said, themselves free from mines and torpedoes

A better way to write it would be:

They had to work hard on the coast, often in dangerous weather, under an almost ceaseless hail of bombs and perpetual concentration of artillery fire. The seas were also dangerous as they contained not only mines, but also torpedoes.

I hope this is helpful. Would you mind if I asked what your original language is? You speak English rather well.

I know this is probably not what you want to hear, but practice makes perfect. You say you lack concentration. Do you mean you get distracted easily? Go to a place where there are no distractions. Avoid the computer unless you need it for homework. No tv, no music. It is ok to be a slow worker. Again, if you keep working hard, speed will come. You just need more practice (I believe at least, I don't know your entire situation). As to directions, perhaps if you wrote them down and keep them with you at all times? Maybe that would help you follow them better. Overall, it seems to me that your situation will take a lot of effort on your part. You will have to try. And if at first you don't succeed, try, try again. You probably won't be able to do it the way you want the first, second, or fiftieth time. Just don't give up.

However, I would not make multitasking a goal. It is actually impossible. Think about it, can you really do two things at once? No, your mind still only concentrates on just one. Doing that just makes everything more confusing. Do one thing at a time, it really is ok.

As to the best answer question, isn't there a button somewhere or something? I'm sorry, I don't remember.

Excellent overall, but I would look at changing a few things...for ex., "a devastating fast-medium bowler" might not be understood by a reader who doesn't know much about cricket. You were discussing Kallis as a role model, then suddenly mention "What impresses me about his batting technique", which should be a new paragraph...since the paper is why he is your role model, a lot of the verbiage following this could be dropped. Check the spelling in "...Evan when luck " Oops! "a few teachings..." is better, and unless '!' is part of his name, it's "Kallis rises to them all."
